Loupe Support
What Loupe is
Loupe keeps the photo albums you choose on your Apple Watch, so you can look at them with no iPhone nearby. It comes as two apps: an iPhone app that reads your library and prepares each photo, and an Apple Watch app that keeps them.
How syncing works
Your iPhone reads your photo library and prepares each photo for your Apple Watch. The photos travel through your own private iCloud, or straight from your iPhone to your Apple Watch when iCloud can’t carry them. Your Apple Watch keeps them, and Loupe shows where the sync stands on both devices.
Common questions
The Watch app isn’t installing
Loupe for Apple Watch installs from the iPhone app. You need an iPhone with iOS 26 or later and an Apple Watch with watchOS 26 or later, paired with each other.
On your iPhone, open the Watch app, tap My Watch, scroll to Available Apps and tap Install next to Loupe. Keep your Apple Watch unlocked and near your iPhone until it finishes, then open Loupe on your Apple Watch.
Syncing is slow
iOS and watchOS decide when apps run in the background, so Loupe can’t promise a time. It does tell you what would speed things up.
Put your Apple Watch on its charger, keep Loupe on the watch face or open on your Apple Watch, and keep your iPhone plugged in and on Wi-Fi. For a big first sync, tap Sync Overnight on the iPhone card. On your Apple Watch, the Sync screen has a tip line that opens How to Speed Up Syncing.
iCloud is off or full, or Loupe says photos are syncing directly
Loupe still works. When iCloud is off or full, photos go straight from your iPhone to your Apple Watch, which is slower. Sync Details on your iPhone says which way your photos are travelling and why.
To turn iCloud back on, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud. If iCloud storage is full, free some space or add more.
My Apple Watch is running out of storage
Loupe keeps photos up to a storage limit you set, and it warns you when the Apple Watch is full. Open Loupe Settings on your iPhone or on your Apple Watch and lower the storage limit. Turning off Keep on Watch for an album removes that album’s photos from your Apple Watch.
Loupe is free for up to 2 GB of photos on your Apple Watch. Videos and original photos take more room and are part of Loupe Premium, so leaving them off saves space.
How do I restore Loupe Premium?
On your iPhone, open Loupe, tap Settings (the gear), then Loupe Premium, then Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. Premium turns on in a moment.
If you used Ask to Buy, Premium turns on after a family organizer approves the purchase.
How do I add photos to the Hidden Album from the share sheet?
The Hidden Album is part of Loupe Premium. Open Loupe on your iPhone, tap Settings, then tap Hidden Album under Privacy. Before you buy Premium, that row opens the Premium screen.
Then, in Photos or Files, select your photos or videos, tap Share, and tap Loupe in the row of apps. If you don’t see Loupe, scroll to the end of the row, tap More, and turn Loupe on. Loupe adds a copy, so the originals stay in Photos and Files. You can also tap Add Photos inside the Hidden Album.
I forgot my passcode
On the passcode screen, tap Forgot Passcode?. Loupe asks for Face ID (or Touch ID), or your iPhone’s passcode, to show that it is you, and then lets you choose a new Loupe passcode. This needs a passcode set on your iPhone itself.
We can’t reset it for you, because your passcode never reaches us.
If I delete Loupe, do I lose my photos?
No. Deleting Loupe from your Apple Watch removes only the copies Loupe kept there. The photos in the Photos app on your iPhone and in iCloud Photos stay as they are. Reinstall Loupe and choose your albums again to bring them back.
To clear what Loupe keeps in your iCloud, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then Storage, then Loupe, then Delete Data from iCloud.
